Ant-Man and Wasp Poster

Ant-Man and the Wasp Review

In three days, Ant-Man and the Wasp hits theaters! After all the emotions from Infinity Wars, this is just what Marvel fans needed. Trust me, you are gonna want to see this.

Special Effects

Of course, I always look for marvelous (lol) special effects, especially from Marvel. Holy smokes, they did not disappoint. Seriously though. They made shrinking things, enlarging others, and phasing through stuff look way too believable. Marvel always blows me away with what they are able to do with some CGI and other special effects.

Girls Kicking Butt

One thing I was concerned about was how they were going to fit in the Wasp. Evangeline Lilly is one of my favorites as she has been in Lost and the Hobbit series, two things that I love. I really wanted Marvel to do her justice and not just make her the love interest how can punch and kick stuff every now and then. Again, they did not disappoint. The Wasp was out in full force and her feelings for Lang weren’t her main reason for being there. Plus Luis thinking she is a total bada** (which she is) just made it all better.

Not only did they give us an amazing Wasp they also gave us an amazing antagonist. Marvel has made a shift in how they portray their “villians” and don’t make them totally hateable. I was sitting in the theater and actually relating to her in a way I didn’t expect. Ava (Ghost) just wants to be fixed and not have any more pain. As someone who has had periods where I have had constant horrific pain that can’t be fixed, I get that. Would I go to her extremes? No. But if I had to deal with everything she did, maybe. Ava is also a total bada**! This girl is barely keeping it together and can take on both Ant-Man and the Wasp and do some serious damage.

Keep the strong women coming Marvel!

Plot

Everyone wondered where Scott Lang was during Infinity Wars and this movie did a really good job of tying the two stories together. There are two end credit scenes. The first one you have to see and the second one is just fun but not important.

The plot was superb and I wouldn’t change a thing. There was a good mix of action and comedy which is expected for the Ant-Man movies. We had the iconic Louis recap which had everyone laughing. There were also a couple parts that had you guessing what happens next. I love that in a movie. I don’t want to be able to know the whole plot of the movie because it becomes boring and therefore a waste of time and money.
