How exciting is it that we are entering into a new year?!?! 2016 was a blast but 2017 is going to be even better! There are so many things I am looking forward to and things that have already happened. So if you have a moment or two let us take a journey into this new year:
I am going to discuss the end of 2016 due to the fact that one of my new things happened then. This was the year I started being able to publish on this blog: The Geek Equestrian. I have always kind of had an interest in blogging but didn’t know how to get started or if I was able to write about my passion of horses. Being able to write about my passion is one of the things I appreciate the most about this blog. I might steer away at times and write about other stuff but we will see…….I look forward to the new year and being able to write about some of my new horsey adventures and more. Stay tuned!!
Do you remember the post I did about plastic ponies? I described some of the things that you could do with them including being a photographer. I love doing photography with my models and it has led to something great…being published in a Breyer Horse Calendar! How much fun is that?!?! Early last year the World of Model Horses website had a contest where you could submit photos for their 2017 calendar and I did hoping that just maybe I would win something for once (I am about the most unlucky person I have ever known lol).
Anyways the months passed and I totally forgot that I had entered the contest. Towards the end of the year, I logged into my email and there was the congratulatory message from the company saying they were publishing one of my photos in their calendar. It’s very exciting when something like this happens and it makes you feel good/accomplished. If you would like one they are available at www.worldofmodelhorses.net
2017-the year I bought my very first horse to call my own. For many years I have wanted my own horse and have had to ride other peoples (not that I mind) in lessons and at shows. I always thought it would be so cool to have my own and take on the responsibilities of being a horse owner. Doing a lease for a year was the deciding factor on whether or not I was ready to take on this responsibility. The lease helped me see that I was indeed ready and it was at this point that I decided I wanted to buy Spartan. This was probably the best decision I ever made and I am so lucky that finally, a life long dream has finally come true!
Kerrits or Carrots?
Carrots….a horse’s favorite treat. Kerrits…a rider’s favorite equestrian wear. Why in the world are we talking about Kerrits versus Carrots? I’ll tell you why: I became a product ambassador for their company. I love riding clothes and the different styles they come in so taking advantage of this opportunity was a wise decision. Some of the products I got were a light weight show shirt for the hot summer horse shows along with Microcord full seat riding breeches (also light weight). Also for winter, I invested in the horse sense headband and neckwarmer. I would suggest them if you are looking for something cute and warm to get you through the rest of the winter months. Kerrits is an awesome brand with some awesome new stuff coming out so be sure to check them out if you are interested!
Trying to figure out what is next is hard. You don’t know what is going to happen next or where life is going to take you. I will let things happen as they do. Maybe in 2018, I will have some more exciting news….we shall see!
